WILLIAM WATSON
Cedar Rapids
William "Bill" Marshall Watson was born July 24, 1968, and succumbed to death on Nov. 24, 2015, at Valley View in Greene.
Bill was the son of Justin and Marilyn
(Andrews) Watson. He lived most of his life in Cedar Rapids. A celebration memorial was held Nov. 28 at First Presbyterian Church in Greene.
When Bill was in junior high, it was discovered he had a congenital arteri-ovenous malformation of his brain. Bill did not let a dibilitating neurological diagnosis keep him from living his life to the fullest. He liked water skiing, swimming and tennis. Upon his graduation from Washington High School, he worked as a bartender at several Cedar Rapids taverns, but he especially like working at Ernie's in the Czech Village. After his marriage to Sue Hoyland, they relocated to Austin, Texas, where he was employed in sales at Sam's Club.
Due to a major bleed in his brain, he returned to Iowa in 2004. Bill entered the Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point in May 2005. Bill moved to the nursing home in Greene in 2013, when his mother relocated to that area. Bill's body was donated to the Mayo Clinic.
Bill is survived by his mother, Marilyn Watson of Greene; brother, Curtis (Debbie); niece, Emma Watson; nephew, Carter Watson of Wayzata, Minn.; three aunts, Martha Deines of Cedar Falls and Marjorie Enabnit and Melinda McWilliams (Dennis), both of Greene; uncle, Winston Watson (Nancy) of Clear Lake; and many cousins.
Bill was preceded by death by his father, Justin Watson; and grandparents William and Marjorie Andrews and Marshall and Lora Watson.
