William "Bill" George Viers Sr., 69, of Cedar Rapids, died unexpectedly Monday, May 4, 2015. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Gloria; three children, Chris Floyd (Jeff Karr), Bill Jr. (Peg McCarthy) and Shawn (Emma Elam), all of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Chaney Floyd, Dillon, Drake and Dawson Viers; one brother, Luis (Peg) Viers of Everett, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mabel and Annabell; brothers, Steven, Jack and Larry; and granddaughter, Chelsea Floyd.
William was born April 11, 1946, in Marshalltown, the son of Luis and Edra Cunningham Viers. He married Gloria Mohring on July 29, 1967, in Cedar Rapids. Bill served in the Marines during the Vietnam War, from 1963 to 1966. He worked for many years at Coonrod's as a crane operator.
Bill loved his family and grandchildren and lived a very full life. He enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking.
