William Lee Thompson was born on October 4, 1934, the son of Lee and Mae Thompson in Owassa, OK. He grew up in Joplin, Missouri, on a dairy farm. Later in adolescence, they moved to Iowa, where they spent summers showing Jersey cows through 4-H. He met his high school sweetheart Audrey where they married on May 17, 1953, to have four children, Ricky, Melissa, Zachary, and Samantha. Bill, as everyone would call him, built homes throughout the Marion area through his business Linn-Mar Construction. After building homes he worked at Daley Anheiser-Busch until his retirement. While he was retired, he enjoyed gardening and traveling to see his children.
Bill was remembered and cherished by his children, Zach (Carol) Thompson, and Samantha Brown; his beloved granddaughter, Ashley Beachel; great-grandsons, Ryker and Xaiden Sotomayor; and granddaughters, Cheyenne Brown and Chelsea Coons. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey and his parents.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
