William Steggall, 81, of Ely, passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be before the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will be following the service at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
William was born Dec. 24, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Robert and Rose (Blazek) Steggall. He married Virginia Petersen on June 5, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. He worked at Rockwell-Goss Co. for 25+ years before retiring.
He greatly enjoyed being in the outdoors fishing and riding the quads. He also enjoyed playing the slots at the Tama Casino.
William is survived by his children, William (Kate Anderson) Steggall Jr. of Baldwin, Robert (Sheryl) Steggall of Cedar Rapids, Dennis "Mike" (Pam Caldwell) Steggall of Laurens and David (Paula) Steggall of Ely; his nine grandchildren, Steven Steggall, Joe (Kara) Steggall, Chad Steggall, Matt Steggall, Cory Steggall, Brittney LaKose, Bobby Steggall, Brittani (Jason) Dease and Amber Steggall, great-grandchildren, Rayden, Christopher, Jaxon, Jakob, Taylor, Madison, and three additional great-grandchildren; his brother, Danny (Tanya) Steggall; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 47 years, Virginia Steggall; his brothers, Doug and Richard Steggall; and his sister, Rose Ann Trasak.
A celebration of life, to follow burial, will be at the Eagles Club, 1735 11th St. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
