WILLIAM SCHINDLER
Hiawatha
William (Bill) Schindler passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at the age of 70. The son of Gertrude and Everett Schindler, Bill was born Nov. 15, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
His childhood years were spent in the Cedar Rapids area, where he received his education and graduated from George Washington High School. At age 17, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and served for almost four years.
Bill married Ardis and together they had four children. He worked at Nissen Corp., PMX as a safety coordinator and also dabbled in home construction.
Bill was a volunteer firefighter for over 25 years, and in his free time, enjoyed bike riding, fishing, camping and bowling.
Since moving to the Longhouse Residence in Spencer, he enjoyed puzzles, and was an avid bingo and Yahtzee player.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ardis.
He is survived by his three daughters, Trudy Ganzevoort of Webb, Iowa, Dawn Cart of Springville, Iowa, and Kristine Schindler of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a stepson, Chad Lloyd of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; and other relatives and friends.
There will be no services.
