WILLIAM EDWARD RUGGLES
Cedar Rapids
William Edward Ruggles. The man. The myth. The legend. Bill died on Sept. 17, 2018, of brain anoxia due to cardiac arrest. Bill was born on Sept. 16, 1964, to Carolyn and Jack. He had three sisters and five brothers throughout his lifetime with blended families.
Bill loved Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, darts, So Co, disc golf, all music, politics, German chocolate cake and Aikido. Not necessarily in that order.
He was witty and sarcastic, and loved to make people smile. He was protective of the underdogs and had a big heart. When it came to floor covering, Bill was one of the best in the business. And he loved doing it until his body said NO.
He is survived by his four children, Amber Ruggles, 27, Breanna Ruggles, 25, Tyler Ruggles, 24, all of Dixon, Ill., and Cheyanna Ruggles, 19, of Cedar Rapids; three stepchildren, Casey, Mikey and Joey; and four grandchildren.
When Bill took off for that pool game in the sky, he left behind his brown dog, "Derby," and his guitar-playing buddy, Rusty, but he again will be with his mother, Carolyn. He will be envied, loved and missed by many.
There will be a celebration of life at Miguel's in Cedar Hills from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 7. Music will be played before his beloved Vikings play at 3:30 p.m. We would love to have you there to share your stories.
