WILLIAM J. "BILL" ROBINSON
Cedar Rapids
William J. "Bill" Robinson, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Darlene; his children, Jerry (Linda) of Marion, Sandy (Max) Green
of Tallahassee, Fla., Nancy (Justin) Kee of Cedar Rapids, Joe of Kansas City, Kan., Tina Robinson (significant other, Dennis) of Center Point and Darla (Mark) Roberts of Tucson, Ariz.; and one brother, Merle of Fresno, Calif. He also is survived by 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Wayne and Janet Jackson, Ken Cook and Regina Tiernan.
Bill was born May 1, 1930, in Delaware County, Iowa, the son of William and Elgie Traver Robinson. He married Darlene M. Hazewinkel on May 14, 1950, in Cedar Rapids.
Bill was a herdsman for Weaver Witwer for many years. He later was a warehouseman for Nash Finch for 13 years, retiring in 1993. Bill also drove school bus for Marion Community School for over 32 years and was a member its "Hall of Fame."
He enjoyed going to the casino with Darlene and sports, including rooting for the Chicago Cubs and all the Marion High School sports.
Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Bill's name.
