WILLIAM "BILL" LANNING
Delhi
William "Bill" Lanning, 74, of Delhi, died Dec. 24, 2016. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, Iowa, with services following at 6 p.m. with Pastor Sam Mack officiating. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi, at a later date.
William Jay Lanning was born Aug. 16, 1942, in Webb, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Olga (Vigness) Lanning. He was a graduate of Maquoketa Valley High School. Bill served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked in the welding trade and as a mechanic. Bill was a talented guitar player and performed with many area bands. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by one sister, Mary Ellen (Keith) Holdridge of Minnesota; nephews, Michael (Ericia) Lanning of Lamont, David (Delaine) Lanning of Swisher and Paul Czyzewski of Minnesota; and nieces, Lori (Maurice Hearne) Holdridge of Minnesota, Julie Holdridge of Arizona and Venessa (Don) Rotchadl of Minnesota.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Walter Lanning and Sylvia Czyzewski.
