William K. Lacy, 92, of Marion, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at the Hiawatha Care Center. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Family Center. Private family entombment with military rites at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene; a son, Keith (Rita) of Marion; a daughter, Ramona Lacy of Urbandale; brother, Floyd of Bethany, Mo.; a grandson, Gunnar; and an adopted daughter, Teresa Williams, both of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Laura.
Bill was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Martinsville, Mo., the son of William and Rosie Russell Lacy. He married Marlene N. Cerserlitch on Aug. 4, 1962, in Syracuse, N.Y.
Bill graduated from Valparaiso Institute and was an electrical engineer at G.E. for 21 years and later at Rockwell for 18 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed gardening and was a very skilled woodworker, making all the furniture in their home. Bill also enjoyed music and played the organ, guitar and accordion. He was a volunteer at Rockwell in the K-12 program, elder emeritus at the Marion Christian Church, and proudly served in the Navy during World War II.
Bill was the kind of guy who would drop everything to help someone out. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
