William L. "Jack" Jackson died unexpectedly Nov. 23, 2014, at his home in Eloy, Ariz. He was 82 years old.
"Jack" is survived by his son, William Jackson and his wife, Felicia, of Chandler, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Euretta and William Jackson of Morley; his wife, Marian Jackson of Cedar Rapids; sister, Dorothy Wooder of Morley; and nephew, Dale Wooder of Morley.
"Jack" was born May 27, 1932, in Morley, Iowa, to Euretta and William Jackson. He married Marian in 1959 and was married for 44 years. William served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in April 1992 after 32 years of service.
"Jack" relocated to Eloy, Ariz., in 2009 to be close to his son and enjoy the warm Arizona winters.
"Jack" was very passionate about several things in his life. He was proud of his time as a scoutmaster for Troop 12 in Cedar Rapids. During his tenure he helped groom 26 young men to the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a natural leader and always pushed people to accomplish their dreams and goals.
"Jack" was a dedicated father and husband. He always had time for his family.
He loved the outdoors and was a passionate golfer. He enjoyed being able to play with his friends and family.
"Jack" will be remembered as a man who had a tough exterior, but was a compassionate, caring, fair and generous man.
A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids. A visitation and viewing will be Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pastor Barbara Krueger will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate "Jack's" life.
