William H. Kelsey, 78, of Marion, Iowa, passed away at the Promedica Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will be held at the Gospel Light Baptist Church, 205 Second Ave., Marion, Iowa, on Monday, Dec. 19, from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m., with Pastor Tim McCurdy officiating.
Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Resthaven.
William was born on June 8, 1944, in Rock Island, Ill. He was the son of the late Horace and Ruth (Sedgwick) Kelsey. On Sept. 1, 1965, William married the love of his life, Wanda Coats in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. William was a veteran in the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea. He was a longtime member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and a greeter.
Those left to cherish William’s memory is his wife, Wanda of Marion; his children, Rod (Shelly) Kelsey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tina Powers of Citra, Fla., and Jeff (Angela) Kelsey of Marion, Iowa; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Phil (Sandra) Kelsey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jon and Doug Kelsey; and his sister, Patricia.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Promedica for all the love and support they showed William while he was in their care.
