William N. Garrett, 80, of Marion, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Per Bill's request, there will be
no visitation or service. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; two daughters, Patricia (Dave) Leininger of Waterloo and Sheryl Garrett of North Liberty; two sisters, Shirley Morgan of Clarinda and Wanda Lear of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; a brother, Richard (Ann) of South English; and two grandchildren, Kyle and Sara Leininger, both of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lavonne Hamilton.
Bill was born Nov. 18, 1937, in South English, the son of Roe and Cuma Nielson Garrett.
Bill married Carol K. Parks on June 21, 1964, in La Porte City. He was a test technician at Rockwell for over 40 years, retiring in 1995.
Bill proudly served in the Air Force. He enjoyed fishing in Hayward, Wis., watching the St. Louis Cardinals and working crossword puzzles.
He will be remembered for the love he had for his children, grandchildren and how proud he was of them.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the wonderful care given to Bill.
