William E. Lane, age 98, of Marion, IA departed to his eternal home while at The Villages at Marion on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM. Graveside Committal Services with military honors at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, September 21 at 9 AM. Funeral Service at Faith Bible Church in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, September 21 at 10 AM.
William was born on December 9, 1925, in Iowa City, IA. He was the son of Ralph and Dulcie Fern (Kimberling) Lane. On March 13, 1948, William married the love of his life Dorothy E. High in Cedar Rapids, IA. He was a longtime member of Faith Bible Church in Cedar Rapids. William had worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
Those left to cherish Williams’s memory are his children, Patricia “Patty” (John) Justice, and Karen (Jesse - deceased) Vancil; his grandchildren, Christopher (Holly), Jennifer, Rachelle, Matthew (Amy), Erica (Richard), and Luke; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy in 2022; and siblings, George Lane [stepbrother], Bob Lane [stepbrother], Betty (Lane) Turner [stepsister], Kate (Lane) Harris [stepsister], Arlene (Lane) Frank [sister], and Don Lane [brother].
