WILLIAM "BILL" CANNING

William "Bill" Lawrence Canning, 55, of Marion, died Friday, June 26, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 4 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services in Marion, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the service.
Survivors include his mother, Lu Canning; two brothers, Mike (Carrie) Canning and Tom Canning; two sisters, Cathy Canning and Vicky (Jon) van den Berg; and nieces and nephews, Michael Foley, Ashley Foley, Jennica Foley, Allison Canning, Kristin Canning, Dillon van den Berg, Samantha van den Berg and Elijah Canning.
He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Canning, in 2010.
Bill was born Oct. 30, 1959, the son of Terry and Lucretia (Barrett) Canning, in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Regis High School in 1978 and the University of Iowa in 1996. He was chief engineer at KPXR-TV until shortly before his death.
Bill enjoyed fishing, camping and online gaming. He loved books and was an avid reader. Bill was a loving son, brother and uncle, and a great friend to many.
