WILLIAM CALDWELL
Cedar Rapids
William died peacefully in his home on Thursday Dec. 11, 2014.
William (Bill) Caldwell was born June 13, 1927, to Floyd and Mary (Keckler) Caldwell in Jesup, Iowa. After graduating high school, Bill served in the Navy during World War II before returning to Iowa. On April 21, 1956, Bill married Angela Krizan. They had one daughter, Linda. The couple resided in Davenport where Bill worked for an International Harvester dealership, until his retirement. In 1994, the couple moved to Cedar Rapids to be closer to their daughter and her family.
Bill had such a calm and steady way that drew people to him. His care and love of family and friends along with his love for fishing is what he'll most be remembered for. In addition, Bill was a lifelong fan and supporter of Iowa sports, cheering them on until the very end. He will be greatly missed by many.
Bill is survived by his wife, Angela; his daughter, Linda (Larry) Walderbach; granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Callie Raine; and great-granddaughter, Zari Raine.
The family will have a small service and burial of the cremains at a future date at Fort Snelling. A celebration of life will also be held in Cedar Rapids at a future date.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.iowacremation.com under Obituaries.
