William "Bill" Franklin Brecht, 71, of Swisher, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home by Deacon Jim Berger. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sheryl; three sons, Mark (Susan) of Winfield and Kirk (Jessica) and Kasey, both of Swisher; daughter, Susan Brecht (Pat Graham) of Pittsfield, Ill.; two grandsons, Jordan and Lucas; brother, Jack John (Jeannie) Brecht, and sister, Joyce Vosdingh (Alvin Vondracek), both of Fairfax; sister-in-law, Sandi Brecht of New London; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Brecht; and nephews, Brian and Barry Brecht.
Bill was born on Jan. 30, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Edward and Anna Mae Spellerberg Brecht. He married Sheryl Weis on Oct. 6, 1979, in Cedar Rapids. Bill was a delivery truck driver, a maintenance man at apartments and did car body work.
Bill loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and animals. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, drinking beer, working on cars which included buying and selling them and visiting and getting to know people. Bill was very active and liked to keep busy.
