William Lewis "Bill" Boots, 87, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, with his loving children by his side, at Mercy Hospice Care in Iowa City.
Coralville Lake was a longtime summer home of Bill Boots. A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, Sept. 14, (noon to 4 p.m.) at Bobbers Grill, Scales Point Marina, 1850 Scales Bend Rd. NE, North Liberty. A private graveside service will be held by the family on Monday, Sept. 15.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mercy Hospice Care in memory of Bill Boots, 500 E. Market St., Iowa City, IA 52245.

Bill was born March 4, 1927, in Elk River, Minn., to Merwyn and Reva Boots. He graduated from Mechanicsville High School and enlisted in the Navy. He then made his home in Mechanicsville, where he began his own auto body painting and repair shop.
Bill was a pilot, flying small planes, and an avid houseboater. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and a former member of the Mechanics-ville City Council and volunteer fire department.
Bill is survived by his five children, Mick, Phil (Bev), Susanne, Randy (Sandy) and Brian (Bobbie); 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; sister, Florence Hatcher; sister-in-law, Lois Rugger; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nadine; his parents; a brother, Vernon; a sister, Anna Mary; and an infant son and grandson.
