WILLIAM "BILL" LEE STOLTE
Cedar Rapids
William "Bill" Lee Stolte, 64, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Aug. 3, 2021, at University of Iowa Hospitals after complications from an injury. Bill was born Sept. 10, 1956, in Hiawatha, Iowa, to Bill and Joyce (Heck) Stolte. He worked at Rockwell Collins for over 30 years.
Bill enjoyed a happy early childhood with his parents Bill and Joyce. After Bill's parents divorced, he lived with his dad and older brother Steve, who he looked up to and with whom he embarked on many misadventures. When Bill Sr. (Big Bill) went on to marry the love of his life, Janice Kramer, Little Bill was welcomed into a large extended step-family. As a teen he enjoyed sports and working on cars. Between him and his step brothers, many classic cars ended up in ditches in rural Benton County.
Bill married Diane Sigmundi in 1981. They had two children, Angie and Mike. He genuinely enjoyed spending time with both of them.
Bill's cherished memories include driving forklift at Universal Gym, coaching youth basketball, and working at a gas station in Keystone, Iowa. He successfully renovated and flipped several homes. He enjoyed muscle cars, playing drums, mowing, sports of any kind, loud music, talking on the phone and relaxing on the couch watching movies.
Bill's love of animals spanned his lifetime. He leaves behind his cats, Chonk and Steve and grand-dog, Woods. His German Shepherd, Cindy and his cat, Boots held a special place in his heart.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Angela Stolte and son, Michael Stolte; three grandchildren, Vincent Stolte, Saylor Smith and Ryder Breeden; his mother, Joyce Banks; his step-mother, Janice Stolte; one brother, Steve Stolte (Marcia); one half-brother, Jeff Banks (Misty); three step-brothers, Val Kramer (Dawn), Scott Kramer and Jim McCarter (Becky); one step-sister, Shell Carter (Ray); one step-sister-in-law, Deb Kramer; and many more family members and close friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Stolte; step-father, Joe Banks; step-brother, Kevin Kramer; nephews, Jason Sigmundi and Slade Bral; and friend, Kris Husman.
Celebration of Life will occur at Cocktails and Company. Bill's desire is that his ashes are scattered in Mexico.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the University of Iowa SNICU as well as Murdoch-Linwood funeral home.
