William H. "Bill" Hepker, 67, of Independence, formerly of the Quasqueton area, died Thursday evening, Sept. 24, 2015, at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence.
Bill was born on Feb. 13, 1948, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Harold G. and Vonda E. (Cottrell) Hepker. In 1962, the Hepker family moved to Albuquerque, N.M., where he graduated from Monzano High School in 1966. On Dec. 29, 1967, he was married to Marsha J. Summerhill in Albuquerque. The couple made their home in Albuquerque and Bill worked as a carpenter with Hepker Construction. In 1978, the family moved back to the Quasqueton area. He worked for Triangle Plastics in Winthrop, then he became employed with the city of Quasqueton for 15 years and most recently he was employed as a truck driver with TMC of Des Moines, until his retirement because of ill health.
Bill loved to fish and do gardening, but most important to him was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha J. Hepker, Independence; three sons, Hal (Marie) Hepker, Edgewood, Chris (Stephanie) Hepker, Quasqueton and Wes (Daniela) Hepker, North Liberty; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Hepker, Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild and a brother, Jimmy Lee Hepker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Union Church, Quasqueton, with the Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will be in the Quasqueton Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Quasqueton is handling arrangements.
