William “Bill” Barthell Ellis Jr., age 70, passed away August 29th, 2025, in the care of St. Luke’s Hospice. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in the Resthaven section in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Bill is the son of William B. Ellis Sr. and Beverly Ellis, born on July 24th, 1955, in Dallas, Texas. The family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1959 where he resided the rest of his life. Bill graduated from Kennedy High School in 1973 where he ran track.
Bill is survived by his three children, Jillian, Ashley and Eric; grandchildren Sabit, Ryen, Ryden and Jianna; brothers Bruce (Marlee) and Ben (Rhonda); and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister Patty; and a brother Bob.
He was a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, and NASCAR.
Bill was also a donor of the Iowa Donor Network. Special thank-you to Iowa Total Care, To The Rescue and his special care giver Ruth Mburu. Bill will be missed by all who knew him.
