William Arthur Fetters was born Nov. 21, 1936, at Fort Scott, in Kansas, the son of Elmer and Thelma (Shumate) Fetters. Their family moved to this area from Kansas in 1942, and as a young man couldn't wait to enter the workforce. For many years, he worked as a driver for the Dale Lee Distributing Co. He liked being the "Bud Man"! In his retirement, he continued driving vehicles for area auto dealers. William was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes Football fan, avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan, he enjoyed driving even when not at work, like to work with wood in his shed, watch old westerns and listen to Blue Grass either in person at festivals or on the radio. But, most important in his life was his family and friends!
His family includes his children, Dianna Evans (Sheldon), Rhonda Fetters, Crystal Schulte (Chad) and Darren Fetters (Lisa Bertoli); stepchildren, Teresa Swanson (Jeffrey) and Christina Barnes (Joseph); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren; William's sister, Altis Tisdale; and his former wife, Ruth Parson.
William was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice, whom he married in June of 2007 and she died in December of 2009; four brothers, Charles, Cecil, Albert and Eugene; one sister, Ruth Ann Matson; grandson, Tyler Fetters; daughter-in-law, Theresa Fetters; and stepson, Scott Woodruff.
