Willett, Jean Marie
Jean Marie Willett, 88, died Jan. 24, 2011, in Chandler, Ariz., after a long illness.
She was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Iowa to Jenny and Roscoe Fawcett. She graduated from Peosta High School in 1939 and then worked at Roshek's Department Store in Dubuque. After marrying Don Cooper, a musician, in 1942, she moved with him first to West Point, then to Chicago and California. Their daughter, Judy, was born in Los Angeles in 1948. When they divorced after 12 years of marriage, Jean moved back to Manchester, Iowa.
Jean worked at the Farmers and Merchants Bank as an assistant cashier for 13 years. She was a single mom for 16 years before marrying Dr. James Willett of Manchester. In 1997, Jean moved to Arizona to be near her daughter.
She had a zest for life, dancing, African violets, antiques, and travel. Her beautiful smile and kind spirit will be greatly missed.
