Wilkinson, Roy G. 'Doc'
Roy G. “Doc” Wilkinson, 86, of Hiawatha, died at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, after a brief illness. There will be private family services. Burial, with military rites: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta; children, Jane (Steven) Dennis of Winter Springs, Fla., Nancy (Orrin) Smith of Coggon, Lisa (Timothy) Sotelo of Bayside, Wis., Jeffrey (Lisa) Coder of Mundelein, Ill., and Jennifer Bollig of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Martha Gesie of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Samantha and Dustin Smith, Michael and Emily Sotelo, Jesse Coder and Amanda Bollig.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee.
Roy was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Anamosa, the son of George and Nellie (Chipman) Wilkinson. He married Roberta M. Kimes on March 10, 1982, in Cedar Rapids. Roy was a pharmaceutical rep for Merck Pharmaceuticals for over 37 years, retiring in 1990.
Roy was a friend of several Christian churches in the Cedar Rapids area and a member of the American Legion, Rotary and Elks Club. He enjoyed church, golf, traveling, and especially the time spent with his friends and beloved family.
Roy was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
