Wildes, Jane Ellen (Simmons)
Jane Ellen (Simmons) Wildes, 76, of West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Faith Lutheran Church, Marion, by the Rev. John Albertson. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Clellan; daughter, Susan (Jeremy) Morgan of San Francisco, Calif.; sister-in-law, Ruth Simmons of Fairmont, Minn.; and her constant companions, Callie and Trinket.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Simmons; and son, Mark Scott Wildes.
Jane was born May 24, 1934, the daughter of Mark and Ida (Wolfgram) Simmons, in Fairmont, Minn. She received her B.S. from Hamlin University in St. Paul, Minn., where she also received the degree of Medical Technologist ASCP. On Jan. 16, 1955, Jane was united in marriage to Clellan Wildes in Fairmont. She worked at hospitals in Minnesota, Illinois and St. Lukes in Cedar Rapids, where she worked for many years in the lab and blood bank. Jane enjoyed working with blood donors, including her husband, Clellan.
Jane was a longtime member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Marion. She spent many hours at her painting, where she created works in oils, pastels and last work in charcoal, that never was completed to her satisfaction.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Janes memory.
