Wilcox, Shirley E.
UPDATED Shirley E. Wilcox, 73, of 4208 Northwood Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Kerrin Kirkpatrick. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, Urbana.
Survivors include her children, Donald Jacobson (Melinda Youngblood) of Shelby, Neb., Rita (Robert) Felker of Center Point, Joe (Barb) Jacobson of Cedar Rapids, Terry Jacobson of Cedar Rapids and Roy (Sheralee) Stigers of Brighton, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Pauline Mason of Shellsburg and Judith Ary of Sparks, Nev; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents; son, Robert Jacobson; and two sisters, Mary Alice Waddle and Margaret Anne Attaway.
Born Aug. 20, 1936, in Fairfax, Shirley was the daughter of Hersel Cyril and Dorothy (Dodge) Waddle. On July 19, 1989, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Wilcox. She was a machinist for Nissen Universal Kidde Inc., retiring in 1984.
Shirley and Bill enjoyed dancing, dining out and family activities. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and later her ladies luncheon group.
A memorial fund has been established in Shirley's memory.
