Wiese, LaVonne Kruger
LaVonne Kruger Wiese, 83, formerly of Vinton, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at the Hiawatha Care Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with the Rev. Karen Larson officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. today.
LaVonne was born Dec. 23, 1926, at Vinton, to Harry and Clara A. (Bramow) Kruger. On Jan. 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Marvin Edward Wiese. He preceded his wife in death on Dec. 26, 1994. Before her retirement, LaVonne was employed as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. In her leisure, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, needlepoint, flowers, camping and fishing.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Marty Gardner of Marion; her grandson, Eric (Tiffaney) Gardner of Colorado; her great-granddaughters, Lauren and Nichole Gardner of Cedar Rapids; her sisters, Erma Fish of Winthrop and Leona Studebaker of Vinton; and her sister-in-law, Doris Kruger of Nebraska.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Kruger.
A memorial fund has been established.
