Wienands-Tharp, Audrey G.
Audrey G. Wienands-Tharp, 90, of Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, died there on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, after a short illness. Services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after noon Wednesday. Private burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Sam) Wienands-Williams; and a brother, Robert (Janet) Beck, all of Cedar Rapids.
She is also survived by three nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherri A. Myer; her two husbands, Clarence and Theodore; and two bothers, Earl and Dale Beck.
Audrey was born on April 20, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ray and Emma Moore Beck. She married Theodore “Ted” Wienands in 1938. They were later divorced. She later married C. Virgil Tharp in 1987. He died in 1991 and Ted in 2005. Audrey was the co-owner and operator of Ted's Playtime Tap for over 20 years. She was a member of Eastern Star, where she had been Past Queen from 1970 to 1971. She was also very active in the Daughters of the Nile and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an avid collector of vinegar cruets and turtles. Audrey was a wonderful wife and mother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
