Wieder, Joyce M.
Joyce M. Wieder, 76, of Iowa City, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Church, with the Rev. Michael Phillip officiating. Family graveside services will be at Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at
Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation or United Action for Youth.
Joyce was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Iowa City, the daughter of Albert and Kathryn Dubishar Brandt. She married Charles “Chuck” Wieder on May 5, 1951, in Iowa City. Chuck died in 1994. For a combined 22 years Joyce was employed by Brandt Heating and Air Conditioning and Old Capitol Motors. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Joyce enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Cubbies and the Minnesota Vikings. She was happiest when she was with her family and friends. Her quick smile and kind heart will be missed by all.
Joyce is survived by her three children, Don Wieder and Lisa Wolvin, and her son, Tony, of Madison, Wis., Kevin (Jill) Wieder of Iowa City,
and Kim Hanrahan and Dan Hanrahan and their children, Huck and Hillary (Mike) Muhlenbruch, and their son, Kale Joseph;
her sisters, Eileen Petersen of Iowa City and Renita (Bob) Rummelhart of Hills; and sisters-in-law, Carol Brandt and Pat Brandt, both of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Gene, Ron and Tim.
