Wicks, Larry E.
Larry E. Wicks, 56, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with the Rev. Glenn Hunt presiding. The family encourages everyone to come and celebrate and share a memory or story of Larry. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Brosh Chapel.
Larry was born Oct. 27, 1953, in Fort Dodge, the son of Homer and Irene Wicks. Larry was a graduate of Washington High School. He worked for over 24 1/2 years at Goss until 2001. He then worked for Barron Motors until his retirement. He married Christle Hall Tschiggfrie on Sept. 6, 2001. Larry was an avid fan of the Hawkeyes and Steelers. Larry loved to drive his truck as well as spending time with people young and old.
Larry is survived by his wife, Christle; mother-in-law, Teresa “Pat” Hall; sisters and brothers, Delores Dipzenberger, Richard Rice, Chuck Babcock, Patty Hood, Betty Lou (Leroy) Brenneman, Camilla Kosar, Sheila Ann Young, Sharon Lee (Dean) Flaws, and Robert (Kathy) Wicks; stepchildren, Rick (Lynn) Tschiggfrie, John Tschiggfrie, Angela (Jason Lincoln) Tschiggfrie, and Jeannie McNeal; grandchildren, Cassi “Screwy Rabbit,” Connor McNeal, Michaela Beckmann, and Abby and Brady Tschiggfrie; and brother- and sister-in-law, Roger (Tami) Hall and Sue (Bob) Fults.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Maynard Hall; and brothers and sisters, Daryl Babcock, Paul Wicks, Lila Ann Johnson, and Roberta McKinnis.
