Whitters, Paul Edward
Paul Edward Whitters, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Dennis Juhl. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service at 7 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of 62 years; children, James (Colleen) Whitters of Alaska, Thomas Whitters of Cedar Rapids, Cynthia (Phillip) Hynek of Swisher, Daniel (Linda) Whitters of Cedar Rapids, Rebecca (Eric) Fisher of Fairfax, John (Peggy) Whitters of Amana, William (Lisa) Whitters of Swisher and Paul Joseph (Jerri) Whitters of Swisher; 35 grandbabies; and 38 great-grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Christine Whitters; daughter, Amy Whitters; grandson, Drake Whitters; and sister, Mary Ann Whitters.
Paul was a very hard worker and started and owned Whitters Turf Farms in 1955. He loved to spend time going to family events and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Paul was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa. Happy hour for Paul was a BIG bowl of ice cream.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Mercy Hospice Care.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or St. Ludmila's Catholic Church.
