White, Woodrow Wilson
Woodrow Wilson White, former Cedar Rapids resident, passed away Feb. 25, 2010, in Kentwood, Mich. Mr. White was 97 years old. His brother-in-law, the Rev. George Youtzy (Frances) of Quincy, Ill., will perform the eulogy on March 6 at Grandville United Methodist Church, Grandville, Mich.
He and his wife, Helen, were owners of the Dixie Candy Store near the Paramount Theatre. Woody was in sales most of his life. His niece, Nancy Spaulding, makes Uncle Woody's Homemade Carmel Corn which is sold at Hy Vee.
He was president of the Optimist Club, past Worshipful Master of Mizpah Lodge, and past secretary/treasurer of the Iowa-South Dakota Hi 12 Clubs. He walked at Westdale Mall and enjoyed playing bridge and volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital and the Harmonious 50 Dance Club.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Helen Youtzy White; his children, Beth Falen (Bill) of Wyoming, Mich., and Dr. Bruce White (Connie) of Hamden, Conn.; his grandchildren, Lisa Falen Briscoe (Steven) of The Woodlands, Texas, Amy Falen and fiance Christopher James of Nashville, Tenn., Becky White Laswell (Matt) of Austin, Texas, and Steven (Sara) White of Grand Island, Neb.; one great-grandchild, Austin Briscoe of The Woodlands, Texas; his sisters, Mary Christie and Alo Wise, and brother, George White, all of Seattle, Wash.; and his sister-in-law, Ruth White of Bloomington, Minn.
