White, Helen Elizabeth Youtzy
Helen Elizabeth Youtzy White, 98, of Kentwood, Mich., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Oct. 16, 2011, in Kentwood. Services: 11 a.m. Nov. 12 at Grandville United Methodist Church, 3140, S. Wilson Ave., Grandville, MI 48418. Her brother, the Rev. George Youtzy, will officiate.
Survivors include her children, Beth (William) Falen of Wyoming, Mich., and Dr. Bruce (Connie) White of Hamden, Conn.; a brother, the Rev. George (Francis) Youtzy of Quincy, Ill.; grandchildren, Steven (Sara) White of Grand Island, Neb., Becky (Matt) Laswell of Austin, Texas, Lisa (Steven) Briscoe of The Woodlands, Texas, Amy (Chris) James of Nashville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Austin Robert Brisoe and Allison Elizabeth Briscoe of The Woodlands, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, and husband, Woody White.
Helen was born March 19, 1913, in Cedar Rapids. She married Woody White in 1940 and they were married 70 years before Woody passed away last year. She received her BA in elementary education from Coe College and taught first grade in Norway, Iowa for many years. She and Woody also owned the Dixie Candy Shop in downtown Cedar Rapids.
Helen was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.
She was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved being a grandmother and took great pride in her grandchildren.
She will be missed by many for her kind and loving manner.
Memorials may be made to the Grandville United Methodist Church.
