White, Elsie Ilene

Elsie Ilene White, 88, of Waterloo, formerly of Manchester, died of pneumonia Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, Waterloo, where visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today and one hour before service time. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

 Elsie is survived by a son, Jeff White of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Connolly of Urbandale; and three grandchildren, Nathan, Kelly and Colleen Connolly.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; two sons, Robert Jr. at birth and Gregory; a brother, Earl Blankenship; and two sisters, Elna Reggentine and Eva Downs.

 Elsie Ilene White was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Louie and Frances Frailey Blankenship. She was united in marriage to Robert O. White on Nov. 1, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in July 1993. Elsie worked as a legal secretary for several law firms. She enjoyed reading, her family and when she was younger, golfing.

       Elsie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
