Wheeler, Lucille C. 'Lucy'
Lucille C. “Lucy” Wheeler, 87, of 3006 Yorkshire Dr. NE, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Richard Marsceau and the Rev. Sam Dronebarger will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include her children, Raymond (Barb) of Cedar Falls, Kathy Graham of Minneapolis, Nancy Chiafos of Marion, Gary (Donna) of Memphis, Tenn., and Pam (Shawn) Rozek of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Nancy, Thomas, Amanda, Jason, Nicholas, Caroline and Dana; and five great-grandchildren, Michelle, Keegan, Allie Mai, John Michael and Hannah.
She was preceded in death by her husband; nine brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Raymond II.
Lucy was born April 8, 1922, in Garland, N.C., the daughter of Edward and Mary Cain Cashwell. She married LaVerne E. “Lew” Wheeler on Oct. 14, 1944, in South Mills, N.C. He died in 1994. Lucy was a former member of the Eagles and Optimist and Elks clubs. She enjoyed playing bingo, board games, working puzzles, going to the casino and especially time spent with her beloved family.
Lucy was a devoted and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Luke's Hospice or the American Cancer Society in Lucy's name.
