Whannel, Johnnie James
Johnnie James Whannel, 62, of Grinnell, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Memorial Services are pending. Inurnment: Graceland Cemetery, Laurel.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; children, Angelia (Jon) Barton of Cedar Rapids and Renee of Newton; stepsons, Randy (Lisa) Pinkerton of Marengo and James Pinkerton of Fort Dodge; sisters, Betty (Ike) Campbell and Mary Woody (Tim), both of Grinnell; brothers, Dennis Whannel of Grinnell, and Donald Whannel of Newton; eight step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.
John was born Jan. 8, 1947, in Grinnell to John and Louise Whannel, and married Donna Morley on Oct. 6, 1998. He retired in 2007 from H & W Brand.
