West, Edie
Edie West, 96, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion, formerly of Marion and Robins, died at the care center Thursday, May 5, 2011. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Grant Hagen. Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Edie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garth; two brothers, Kenneth and Ben; and one sister, Grace.
Born Aug. 14, 1914, in Norway, Iowa, Edie was the daughter of Ben and Ida (Swenningson) Christianson. On Sept. 1, 1945, she was united in marriage to Garth M. West in Portland, Ind. He died Nov. 27, 1984.
For 30 years she worked for Danish Maid Bakery.
Edie was a member of the Robins Homemakers Club for 40 years.
