Wesley Martens, 74, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021. A graveside committal will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Garden of Last Supper.
Wesley Calvin Martens was born March 7, 1947, in Decorah, Iowa, to Calvin and Bernice-Arla (Smorstad) Martens. Wesley graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam on the USS Newport News. He was employed by Cargill for more than 40 years.
Wesley loved bowling, fishing, and shopping on QVC. He bowled multiple 300 games.
Wesley was known for his generous heart. He was always there to help anyone in need.
Wesley is survived by his sisters, Cheryl (Eric) Taube of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Carolyn Hageman of Punta Gorda, Fla.; nephew, Doni (Samantha) Taube; niece, Diane (Thom) Jennings; great-nephews, Spencer Jennings and Conrad Taube; great-niece, Hannah Jennings; and several cousins.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jerry Hageman.
