Werning, Troy L.
Troy L. Werning, 44, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Newhall, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, following a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with the Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at St. John's Cemetery, near Newhall. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton.
A memorial fund has been established.
Troy was born April 8, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, to Vernon and Tammy (Pickett) Werning and graduated from Benton Community High School in 1987 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 1992.
Troy was employed as a project manager at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed golfing, basketball, football and was an avid UNI sports fan.
He is survived by his parents, Vernon and Tammy Werning of Newhall; his brother, Scott Werning of Newhall; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Hinkel of Iowa City; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
