Werner, Ruth K.
Ruth K. Werner, 99, a resident of Village Ridge in Marion, formerly of Mason City, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at her home. Per the family's wishes, there will be no services. Private family burial will be at a later date at Memorial Park in Mason City. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include her son, Bill Werner and wife Billie of Anamosa; and daughter, Barb Meeker of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Tara (Jim) Overschmidt of O'Fallon, Mo., Julie Fitzpatrick (fiance Eric Tyrell) of Stillwell, Kan., and Sebrina (Chad) Lucas of Cedar Rapids; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Elizabeth Overschmidt and Ian and Gavin Lucas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; a brother, Eddie Gere; and a sister, Irma Miller.
Ruth was born Oct. 10, 1910, the daughter of William Jr. and Rose (Zimmerman) Gere in Dubuque. She graduated from Dubuque High School in 1928. On May 13, 1939, she married William F. Werner in Dubuque.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church in Marion in Ruth's memory.
