Werner, Norman Dale
Norman Dale Werner, 79, of 4055 Treeline Ct. NE, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Patrick Catholic Church, by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus, with military services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 788. Friends may visit Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and again Saturday from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m.
Norman is survived by his wife, Maryanne; a daughter, Deborah Werner of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, Stephen (Barbara) of Las Vegas, Nev., and David (Paula) of Minneapolis three grandchildren, Nikki (Sean) O'Brien of Las Vegas and Whitney Werner and Graham Werner, both of Minneapolis; a sister, Lauretta Quigley of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.
Four brothers preceded Norman in death.
Norman was born June 30, 1931, in Tama, the son of Henry and Minnie Boettcher Werner. He married Maryanne Soukup on Jan. 18, 1952, in Tama. He retired in 1991 as the plant manager of Longview Fibre Co. Norman was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 788 and American Legion, and was a past commander and lifetime member of the Cedar Rapids Power Squadron.
Norman loved boating, fishing, playing golf, traveling, and especially watching “da Bears.”
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Patrick Parish Center Rebuilding Fund.
