Werner, Larry Dewaine
Larry Dewaine Werner, 72, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Thomas Dowling officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Larry was born Sept. 23, 1940, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Everett and Virginia (Parizek) Werner. He attended Tama schools.
He had a daughter, Shaune with his first wife, Charlotte. Then on May 27, 1967, he was united in marriage to Sharon Clinton in Lancaster, Mo. Larry worked as a truck driver, bus driver and retired from Tama Paperboard in 2000 after 39 years. He was a member of ABATE and played in the Tama/Toledo pool league. Larry loved riding motorcycles, fishing and dogs. He was also an avid reader. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Sherry; his parents; and one sister, Joyce.
Survivors include a son, Everett (DeeDee) Werner of Tama; a daughter, Shaune (Gary) Bartoo of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas; a stepdaughter, Renee Fenton of Waterloo; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a special friend, Debbie Benner of Toledo; one niece; and two great nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
