Wenndt, Erwin C.
Erwin C. Wenndt, 97, of Lowden, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, by the Rev. Victor Young. Burial: church cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Dave) Sander of Lowden; a son, Dennis of Lowden; five grandchildren, Doug (Sara) Sander of Moline, Ill., Dan (Colette) Sander of Clarence, Dean (Kelly) Sander of Clarence, Phillip (Melissa) Wenndt of Cedar Rapids and Marcia Jackson of Cedar Rapids; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; five brothers; five sisters; and a great-grandchild, Dean Jacob Sander.
Born May 1, 1912, in rural Lowden, the son of Herman and Louise (Kroemer) Wenndt, he married Lenora Busch on Dec. 7, 1938, in Davenport. She died Oct. 25, 2003. Erwin farmed near Lowden his entire life, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had served on the building committee, trustee and cemetery board. He also was director and agent for Wheatland Mutual Insurance Association for many years.
