Sally was born in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of David and Ida (Brown) Jones. She graduated from high school there in Davenport. In her youth her family and the Wenman family of Coralville got to be good friends, in fact for a while, she and Jim dated. Years later after the deaths of their spouses they came together again on Aug. 4, 2004, in a ceremony at her daughter's home in Arizona. She and Jim enjoyed life, traveling the United States, especially spending time in Arizona when they were not here in Coralville. Sally loved watching old movies with Jim, playing cards with family and friends, doing puzzles, singing whenever the spirit moved her and of course her Milky Ways!
Her family includes her husband, Jim; her three daughters and their husbands, all in Arizona: Kim and Rick Fernay, Rhea and Bob Koch, and Buff and Steve Boller; Jim's children, Jim and his wife, Laura Wenman, of Clive and Ginger Troughton of Iowa City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Sally's two remaining siblings, Rosemary Swanson and her husband of Walnut, Ill., and Daniel Jones and his wife, Betty Lou, of East Moline, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; previous husband; 10 siblings; and a son-in-law, Ed Troughton.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Sally's family and her services.
