Wendy Kathleen Arnold-Rodriguez, 49, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on March 25, 2021, after a courageous battle with Stage
4 ovarian cancer. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Wendy grew up in Denmark, Iowa; graduated from Fort Madison Senior High in 1990; received her AA from Kirkwood in 1992; BA in History from the University of Iowa in 1995; and her Master's Degree (TESOL) from UNI in 2014. She studied in Spain, taught English in Japan, and currently was an ELL instructor at the College Community School District in Cedar Rapids. In 1997, she married Carlos Rodriguez in Lima, Peru, and together they had two wonderful children, Alec and Ava Rodriguez.
Wendy was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Fred and Alathea Arnold; maternal grandparents, Edwin and Lucille Reinhart; and husband, Carlos Rodrigue. She is survived by her children, Alec and Ava; parents, Fred and Sharon Arnold of Fort Madison, Iowa; sister, Stacey McPherson (Wynn) of Cedar Rapids; brother, Daniel Arnold (Trista) of Donnellson, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews, along with many other extended family, close friends, colleagues and students.
Due to COVID and out of an abundance of caution for others, a memorial service celebrating Wendy's life will be held this summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Alec and Ava's educational funds.
