Wendell, Kenneth M.
Kenneth M. Wendell, 68, of 1635 25th St., Marion, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at his home after a courageous battle with carcinoid cancer. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 23, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion by the Rev. Dennis Johnson. Family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion and one hour before the service at the church. Burial: Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, Neb., at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marlene; children, David Wendell and Sharon (Kyle) Hertzler, both of Marion; a granddaughter, Bethany Hertzler; and his dog, Mocha.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ken was born Sept. 5, 1942, in Holdrege, Neb., the son of Verle and Elvera (Anderson) Wendell. He graduated from Minden Nebraska High School in 1960. He was a graduate of Nebraska Technical School in Milford, Neb., in 1962. On Dec. 7, 1963, he was united to Marlene Joy Erickson in Holdrege. Ken worked as an electronics tech at Rockwell for 39 years, retiring in 2001. Ken was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ken's memory.
