Welty, Gerald 'Jerry' N.
Gerald “Jerry” N. Welty, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Brad Brown. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Teahen Funeral Home and after 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Alberta “Bert”; son, Scott (Amy) Welty of Atkins; daughter, Sherri (Tim) Patten of Burlington, Kan.; grandchildren, Sarah and Zach Patten and Jenna Welty; sisters-in-law, Margaret Rinderknecht of Cedar Rapids and Janet Welty of Bellevue, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald Nathan was born Dec. 28, 1929, in Oxford Junction, the son of Cale and Anna (Fritcher) Welty. He married Alberta Elizabeth Rinderknecht on July 19, 1952, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins. For over 25 years Jerry worked as an accountant at Penford.
Jerry was a member of the Merrimix Dance Club, Elks Lodge, American Legion Marion Post 298 and Jim Beam Club. He was fortunate enough to be able to spend 16 warm winters in Arizona with his wife, Alberta.
