Weller, Earl
MCGREGOR - Earl Weller, 78, of McGregor, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in McGregor. The Rev. William Gentry III will officiate at the service. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Thornburg-DeVries Funeral Home in McGregor and one hour before services at the church.
Harold Earl Weller was born April 6, 1932, at McGregor, Iowa. He was the son of Amel and Gertrude (McMillan) Weller. He graduated from high school in McGregor and, on Dec. 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Ardyth Stee at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. Earl hauled milk for 37 years, first for Carnation and then Swiss Valley. He and Ardyth then purchased the Luana Tavern and ran that for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ardyth of McGregor; one daughter, Candy Weller of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one son, Craig (Darcy) of Monona; one sister, Eunice (Virgil) Enke of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; one grandson, Travis Weller of Monona; and two sisters-in-law, Meda Weller of McGregor and Shirley Weller of Pasadena, Md.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ervin and Everett; and one sister, Ethel Lenth.
