Welch, Laura Lee
Laura Lee Welch, 96, formerly of Belle Plaine, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at the Hiawatha Care Center from complications of age. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church by the Rev. James Campbell. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Hrabak Funeral Home is assisting the family.
She is survived by daughters, Jo Anne Rogers of Belle Plaine, Beverly (John) Lahn of Poinciana, Fla., and Connie (Roger) Pyburn of Pensacola, Fla.; twin sister, Lura Fife Beaman of Indianola; sister-in-law, Marie Welch Crabbs of Winterset; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, a brother, and a son-in-law.
Laura and her husband, Raymond, managed Lanes Clothing for 33 years. She was a housemother at Iowa State and Drake universities for six years.
Memorials may be directed to Christ United Methodist Church Piano Restoration Fund.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Hiawatha Care Center, St. Luke's Hospice, and doctors Nelson and Ghosh for their care and compassion.
