It is with great sadness that the family of Arvin Welch announces his passing on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the age of 82.
Arvin was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Binger, Okla. After the family moved to Iowa, he graduated from Onslow High School and joined the Air Force to serve in the Korean War, where he attained the rank of staff sergeant. He was sales manager for Voltmaster Corporation for 40 years, traveling throughout Iowa and then later the southern U.S. Arvin was a longtime resident of Cedar Rapids and spent over 50 years there before moving to Waukee in 2009. He was a member of Lutheran Church of Hope.
Arvin will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn; his three children, Lori Thornburg of Altoona, Larry (Marcy) Welch of Dekalb, Ill., and Lisa (Gary) Feaker of Waukee; and six grandchildren, Justin Thornburg, Adam and Katie Welch, and Callie, Macy and Logan Feaker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Freda Welch.
In honor of his wishes, a private service was held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
