Judy L. (Emerson) “Judes” Weitz, 55, of Anamosa, formerly of Dubuque, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 8p.m. Friday, May 3, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.
Judy was born Sept. 21, 1957, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Everett “Tony” and Betty Lou (Miner) Emerson. She graduated from Dubuque Hempstead High School and worked for the former Brown Publishing, Dubuque. She later worked at data communications at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, and lastly was self employed as a “Domestic Engineer.”
She enjoyed being outdoors doing yard work and sharing her life with others. She always showed compassion for others and her door was always open for entertaining. Even if Judy had just met you, you felt like you were friends forever. She had a great passion for motorcycle riding and was the secretary-treasurer of the Anamosa Joy Riders of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
She is survived by her husband, Paul of Anamosa; two daughters, Elizabeth (Zachary) Siebels of Anamosa and Natasha Weitz of Monticello; two grandchildren, Gavin and Ava; her mother, Betty Lou Emerson of Dubuque; her father, Everett “Tony” Emerson of Peosta; a sister, Diane Emerson of Dubuque; and a brother, Mike Emerson of North Buena Vista.
A Judy “Judes” Weitz memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids and Dr. Ghosh for all the medical care, kindness and attention. Also to Pastor Bill Randels for his devotion to Judy and her family.
